Today I read one of Chris Widener’s ezine articles and the author quoted a book by James Allen called ‘As A Man Thinketh’ I have read the book and it is a good one, originally came out many years ago so you can find it online for free but there are also updated versions you can buy at major bookstores and online in many places. I recommend you at least read the free ebook. But I digress…. the quote is;
“A Person is the causer (though nearly always unconsciously) of his circumstances, and that, whilst aiming at the good end, he is continually frustrating its accomplishment by encouraging thoughts and desires which cannot possibly harmonize with that end.” and what I would like you to take away from this is that you are who you think you are, you get what you think about and you control your thoughts or they control you and your life.
Ever had something dominate your thoughts? Like worrying about a family member, money, traffic or really any situation that you hated and didn’t want to have happen but sure enough, it did. Or maybe its happening right now. If you could understand that your thoughts of the problem are what brings it to you then you could understand that all you have to do is decide to think about something else. Sounds easy right? It is and it isn’t. If you have spent your life thinking about the times you don’t want then it is a habit. New habits of thought can be formed but it does take discipline and you can start today. If you have a thought of worry or negativity replace it with several minutes of goal setting, sing your favorite song to yourself, read something inspirational or think about all of the good things that have ever happened to you. Remember you and only you control what you think.
As Mike Dooley says: Thoughts become things; choose the good ones!!!
