Deedeedee

Well here I sit trying to think of something to post. It's not that I don't have anything to say, it's that I'm not sure WHAT to say. My posts seem to be all over the place. I am not Virginia Woolfe after all. This week one of my neighbors died unexpectedly. Not that everyone didn't know he had health issues, he was in the hospital every month for goodness sakes. But... many people I have know that were always focused on their health usually live to a ripe old age and the people they are married to die young. I thought that would be the case here too. And what killed him was not one of his regular issues so that made it unexpected. And I liked him. He was always making jokes, always. He saw humor in everything. Not enough people like that in the world.
His funeral is Saturday and I guess if he had to die, now was a good time for me because Mayor Jim is leaving in a few days for business and will be gone for several weeks. The good thing is, when he gets back it will be Spring-woohoo. I love Spring.
So I counted and we lost 9 residents this year and gained 2 so our town population is 122. The other 8 are waiting for the government to announce if there will be buyouts. 5 of the 6 are in one family and they want to move back into town, 2 others had the old restaurant & I don't know if they are coming back & the remaining one just moved here last year and 2 of his 3 properties have water damage. I think its too soon to say if he will be back but I hope so.
Well, I hope you enjoyed reading about life in a small town. Saturday I'll tell you about the funeral, you won't even believe me.

My Book Part Two

Yeah, so ok, I recently bragged that I had finsihed my book but guess what? I took another look at it and realized that no, I did not finish my book. I have to go back to it and start the second part because otherwise I have told only the first part of the story. Weird thing is tho, I mostly realized this in a dream. Hmmm. maybe its a sign....
So I have been doing my homework so I can make my part two work. Its been super cold here so my fingers can only take so much cold at a time. I should just go buy another space heater but I don't want to. I want the mayor to buy one of those units like they have in hotels and motels that does the heating or cooling and stick it in the place where he has the ac unit right now. Told him he should have done that in the first place when we were renovating this carriage house but he has a challenge listening to me sometimes. But January is almost over and February is short so warmer weather is a few short weeks away. I should have just left for the winter and since I didn't I am going to have to pay the price. At least I have it better than my neighbor today-her furnace went out last night and she rents from my Father-in-law who lives in another state. She has had to keep her stove burners and oven on to keep her place warm. Open flames! Yikes! She is on oyxgen! But the part to fix it won't be here until tomorow. what would she do if we weren't here anymore?

What was I thinking!

I couldn't believe how long its been since I posted anything! I remember to write in my journal every night so how is this different? Yes, you could say that I don't share my journal with the world but the world isn't beating a path to my blog and my journal isn't exactly locked up. So I resolve today, to post at a minimum of every other day. My goal is every day, my benchmark every other day.
So let's get to it; today is a very nice day. Warmer than its been for a couple of months, its sunny too. A tug boat went up river a bit ago so maybe just maybe the ice will break up. I don't like it when the river is frozen over. Sure it looks pretty but it seems even colder when the wind blows across it and since the wind is already coming out of the north, brrrr! And the way things are going I won't get out of here until the beginning of March & thats like Spring already. But I'll not be letting that dampen my happiness about moving to a more populated area. One of our dearest friends' father passed away last week. He-the father- gave Jim a job over 20 years ago that turned into a career and provided a living for Jim until a few years ago when he decided he wanted a change. When we got to the visitation we saw so many friends we haven't seen in years, partly because people scatter but also because we live so rural. They were all so happy to hear we are moving back in state. Jim's term as Mayor is up in April but we can come back for the monthly meetings and stay in the clubhouse.
The fire alarm has sounded twice in 2 days. Thats a scary sound because up here, if your house catches on fire its pretty much a goner. All volunteer firemen, they try their best but somehow they don't save much. The one yesterday was a 2 alarm fire and the house is gone. Haven't heard about last nights yet. My house is over 100 years old, I know from when we rewired it and had to cut some lightswitch holes in the walls. When we did that we had to have water to douse the lathing strips because they were so dry they were like tinder. Needless to say, we have several fire extinguishers in the house.
I've been seeing a lot of Eagles, Geese and a few Pelicans. Think the Pelicans are a sign of an early Spring because we don't see them much in the winter. Oh yeah, and Robins, until the other day I hadn't seen a Robin in months, now I'm seeing several each day-is this just wishful thinking? We haven't even had one real snow this year and last year we had a ton of snow.

It's Been Sooo Long...

It's been so long since I posted. Been trying to find the time. Wanted to finish my book today but so many interruptions! Jim is running for mayor again and the caucus is tomorrow. This time he will be opposed. That should make it interesting. I didn't vote for him last time because I didn't even want him to run but after what happened with the flood last June, I can't imagine what would have happened if he hadn't been mayor at the time. As long as we own property here I don't want him to not be mayor even if it means we have to come back once a month for the meeting.
Been seeing an eagle flying over our property looking for an easy meal I'm guessing. Don't know why that is, the river isn't frozen now although I'm sure it will be in the next day or two. Usually once it freezes it stays that way for months but it froze and melted once already this winter. Haven't seen nearly as many geese this winter as I did last winter. Maybe thats due to the river not being frozen. I just don't know but it is cool to see thousands and thousands of winter geese flying over. Last fall I hardly saw any pelicans compared to previous years, thought we'd have a mild winter and sort of we have but, I think I still should have seen more than I did. Oh well, there is always next fall right?

Been SOOOOO Busy!

Oh, I could NOT believe that I haven't posted anything for so long! Time just got away from me I guess. Working hard to finish my book this week if I can. I resolved not to leave for the winter until I finished so I have been grinding out pages and pages every day for the past week or so. Not that I'm just writing whatever comes into my head mind you, I am sticking to the story line I started with and developing my characters but the flow has increased greatly since I have that go south for the winter resolution.
So when it rains it pours right? Got so much going on here at the house too. Lots of activity, lots of good stuff. Its like a treasure hunt every day. Packing, cleaning, working on contacting all of our people and getting them up to speed. New Year new resolutions for people so we have to get our people in action to put some money in their pockets because right now is when people are wanting to lose weight, stop smoking, start geting healthier, eating better and all that and we have the perfect products so training calls on the products are critical right now but take time to set up and to put on. Whew, I love being busy! and I love to teach people to eat cheap!
