I couldn't believe how long its been since I posted anything! I remember to write in my journal every night so how is this different? Yes, you could say that I don't share my journal with the world but the world isn't beating a path to my blog and my journal isn't exactly locked up. So I resolve today, to post at a minimum of every other day. My goal is every day, my benchmark every other day.
So let's get to it; today is a very nice day. Warmer than its been for a couple of months, its sunny too. A tug boat went up river a bit ago so maybe just maybe the ice will break up. I don't like it when the river is frozen over. Sure it looks pretty but it seems even colder when the wind blows across it and since the wind is already coming out of the north, brrrr! And the way things are going I won't get out of here until the beginning of March & thats like Spring already. But I'll not be letting that dampen my happiness about moving to a more populated area. One of our dearest friends' father passed away last week. He-the father- gave Jim a job over 20 years ago that turned into a career and provided a living for Jim until a few years ago when he decided he wanted a change. When we got to the visitation we saw so many friends we haven't seen in years, partly because people scatter but also because we live so rural. They were all so happy to hear we are moving back in state. Jim's term as Mayor is up in April but we can come back for the monthly meetings and stay in the clubhouse.
The fire alarm has sounded twice in 2 days. Thats a scary sound because up here, if your house catches on fire its pretty much a goner. All volunteer firemen, they try their best but somehow they don't save much. The one yesterday was a 2 alarm fire and the house is gone. Haven't heard about last nights yet. My house is over 100 years old, I know from when we rewired it and had to cut some lightswitch holes in the walls. When we did that we had to have water to douse the lathing strips because they were so dry they were like tinder. Needless to say, we have several fire extinguishers in the house.
I've been seeing a lot of Eagles, Geese and a few Pelicans. Think the Pelicans are a sign of an early Spring because we don't see them much in the winter. Oh yeah, and Robins, until the other day I hadn't seen a Robin in months, now I'm seeing several each day-is this just wishful thinking? We haven't even had one real snow this year and last year we had a ton of snow.
